Publishing

Instructions
Each student will submit a chapter using the InDesign template provided, here

If collaborating with others, work may be repeated within each contributor’s own chapter.

When complete, students should Package the file within InDesign and upload that entire folder, including the INDD, IDML, PDF, Links Folder, Fonts Folder, etc. that is generated to the Final Publication Folder on the Google Drive, here.

Additional notes:
Publication Template
The template offers a range of possible page layouts for your use.  You may select whatever page lay-outs make sense to communicate your work.  Adjustments required for the sake of communication are supported.  However, please honor the the overall design logic as these layouts allow the book, when published, to feel coherent.   Of primary importance is to maintain the paragraph styles provided and to use standard rules of capitalization.

Image Resolution and Quality
Our printing service will reject images of less than 200dpi.  Since “dots per inch” is a ratio related to size, the images linked to the template indicate absolute pixel sizes for our A5 Format (5.8” x 8.3”) book, for ease of reference, these are recommended “absolute pixel” sizes for:

Spread (Full Bleed): 7228px x 5197px
Spread (w/margins): 3614px x 5197px
Page (Full Bleed): 6520px x 3874px
Page (w/ margins): 2906px x 3874px

Images should also be lit with intention, in focus, and generally crisp.  Unless an intentional part of the work, photographs of drawings should also be rectified to the page (i.e. perpendicular and square to the lens — not twisted, oblique, or othewise distorted).  Its ok to include a white wall or other surface around the margins of a drawing on paper (as if its a specimen).
